      Interesting story.

      I believe folks interested in this hobby need to learn and use proper terminology.

      A veteran is somebody who has served and survived his service.

      I see this term misused quite often.

      The Japanese soldier never got to be a veteran.

      He may have been a veteran of other campaigns, but in general, a veteran is a former serviceman.

      Just sayin.'

        I really love those paybooks because they hold alot of info. I have a paybook from a Japanese sniper who died in the battle of Saipan (his last entry is dated 7 days before invasion). It has his address (60 years ago) in Hokkaido I was thinking of trying to find his family when I go there and give it to them.
