    paint

In some places this green paint is obvious, in other places it seems to have faded to a lighter brown color. Not sure why, but the greenish tinge is evident in this first shot, and it is more khaki in the second shot. Maybe someone has an explanation for this?

      One more close up

This one shows one of the liner rivets up close, showing the green on the pin and adjacent stripe. I cannot explain why the star is so green and the paint around it is more tan, however. I got the impression when I had it that the paint might have been very thin, and somehow shown more green on bare metal than on the khaki base paint. Sort of like a green wash of some sort.

          .

We'll see if he wants to keep it or not. I don't know how long those second chance deals last. He can sell it to you himself if he wants, I suppose.

I like the looks of it. I think sometimes we overanalyze some of this stuff; these things went thru the worst war in the history of the world, along the way they got banged up and reparied in the field.

              .

Well, I cannot divine the history of this helmet. I bought it on Ebay and I sold it on Ebay. I think it is good, and I think the green star is the result of a green wash painted in a stripe around the helmet. Maybe I am self-delusional, but that is my opinion. But I am hardly a Japanese helmet expert, as most on here will attest. My realm is German helmets, which I am not an expert on either, but more knowledgeable, at least.
