WW2? Need help in ID and translation

    Hi,
I would like to know if this plate and box case is from WW2? I have no clue but thought it was Army with the star in the middle of the plate.

    Thank you,
    Rodney

                Hello,

from these pictures, yes WW2 era item.
Not military items , I think civilian company item.
                From japanese to english,
The 50th anniversary operation memory, DaiNippon man-made manure company.

This would have been from 1937, as a company gift commemorating the 50th Anniversary of a fertilizer (again!) company founded in 1887. The company changed its name to Nissan Chemical Industries later that year and exists to this day. It shares the same roots as Nissan, the car manufacturer. In the following photo of one of their plants you can see the name of the company and the star trade mark.

                    Thanks rabbit indy and Nick,

rabbit indy, thanks for the Japanese to English translation!! I thought it was a military award because of the star !!!, just man-made manure

Nick, thanks for posting the picture of the company. What exactly did Nissan Chemical Industries produce and did it have anything to do with the war effort?

                    Aloha,
                    Rodney

                        Here's the companie's English website http://www.nissanchem.co.jp/english/...e/history.html

They still use the Star trade mark.

Hi Papa Nambu, now that would make a nice display !! The star was the one that fooled me in thinking this was an IJA award of some kind........ now I know.

Hey Nick, thanks for the website. I'll have to read its information, at least this is a Showa period award..... but not military as I thought it was.
