Japanese radio reciever box ????

i just picked this up this morning im not sure what it is it has japanese writing inside the box but most of it you cant read
it appears it was sent home as a souvenir
i was thinking it was radio reciever box any ideas

The box is for a Japanese WWII signal lantern - contain the lamp, stem, filters, cable to generator, box of spare bulbs, switch that clips to belt.
