Japanese Flag from 37. Division Vet

This flag come from vet of the 37. Division Ohio, Mr. Kauffer (Bronze Star). Is it a good item or pós 45 souvenir???

Hello William,

Kanjis are upside down. Looks okay to me but could be tell with more confidence in the good side, and it's would be more easy for a native speaker to share his though about the calligraphie.

Good flag and the presenter is probably Rear Admiral, Jiro Nango, though he did not write his rank as was customary. He went into reserve in 1924, so was not in service during WW2, but lost 2 sons in that war and lived till 1951.
