    Are these items Japanese?

    Hello forum...

I found these items on 5/29 yard saling...

The lady said her grandfather joined the Cavalry in 1915.... and retired right after the Korean war as a Lt. Colonel.

    He was a quartermaster.

She did have a Japanese helmet and several hats... but... I missed out.

Are these nets Japanese, or American? Are the medals Japanese, or Korean?

I will post photos of the other items on the US forum.

    thanks for the help... Robert

I cannot comment on the net, but the badges are Japanese, except for an incomplete Manchukuo piece. The three duplicate badges are Labor Badges, which I think were established in 1942. See a bit more here:
              http://www.imperialjapanmedalsandbad...aborbadge.html

These badges sell for nice prices on Japanese auction sites but they don't often reach high figures on ebay, probably because they aren't well known and the design may put off collectors who may find it feminine (which it is since there is a girl in the center).

The rectangular badge is probably a martial arts tournament commemorative (I cannot see the inscription), the yellow orchid is the suspension to a Manchukuo Auspicious Clouds award, and the Togo badge is a small item made by the Japan Mint in 1934. It was sold, not awarded.

              Cheers,
              Rich

They caught him on a bad hair day, but that's a man. Should be Yamato Takeuru, the slayer of the 8 headed serpent.

                    Thanks guys for the help...

any idea what the badges are worth?

I only collect Japanese helmets, swords, flags, Nambu's.... and the rest... I sell/trade away.

I noticed that one top lens is cracked on the binoculars.

the closure strap and carry strap are missing as well.

I placed the nets on two helmets from my collection.
