GUADALCANAL ever seen one of these ?

In my quest for the odd , this was given to me by a friend recently . might anyone be able to tell me about the date and the art work significance ?

I can't recall any significance to that date and Guadalcanal. By 1944 the hardcore action had moved on. I have seen these before. They must have been a popular and probably cheap thing to send home. Always neat to see the artwork on them. It is always different in my experience.

And I've seen two from New Guinea. I imagine this type of coconut would be a pretty exotic souviner for the folks back home!
