Picked this up at estate sale this weekend, has interesting badge on front and impressed characters on brim that might be random but look like kanji. What is this thing?

looks like civilian police cap. don't think those are japanese characters, just something heavy causing an indentation

it's an army officers dress uniform cap, for a warrent officer, worn from the meiji period up till the end of ww2. they usually have a plume coming out of the badge (take a look there should be a hole)but as this is stored in a seperate case of it's owen it's usualy missing. these come up regually on e-bay and can vary in price. the shoulder boards from a previous thred go with this cap.Comment

You need too push down the top of the hat ,so it gets a rim.Thats the correct way it schould look like ,now it looks like a musroom.Comment

It was a 100 helmet collection, 90 percent bad, 2 bad navies, one real army but with fake cover and net, the deceased collector had really been taken advantage of. Picked up a few German items, and this cap, the cap was on a whim after all the bad stuff,Comment
