    Japanese Aircraft Carriers

Kind of a strange request and not really related to militaria but has anyone ever heard of the Japanese aircraft carrier the 'Kamoie' (sp?) or the Japanese survey ship the 'Kooshuu' (sp?)?

I have not been able to find anything on them but they are referenced in a July 1937 news article.

Best I can come up with is the seaplane tender Kamoi with no luck whatsoever on the survey ship. What was the article about? Jim

      Thanks for the response.

I think you are right with the Kamoi and that it is a typo. The article is about Amelia Earhart and different ships searching for her. Does anyone know if that ship was in the area at the time?

Kamoi was ordered to join in the search for Amelia and Fred, but the order was rescinded before she could participate ( perhaps because the Japanese knew exactly where she was?) Fascinating subject. Jim
