Samurai sword????

A friend of mine got this sword 15 years ago from a neighbor. He knows nothing about it and asked me what it is, how old it is and about the estimated value. I think it comes from japan.

I hate to be the one to tell you first. It looks like a typical chinese fake. Did you spend alot for this? Or was it given to you? If you went to sell this you might be able to get $20 - 40.

It was presented to my friend 15 years ago and he wanted to sell it, but now I think he will keep it.

the saya might be ok. I have a teruhide sword with a similar saya (scabbard).

The saya is 100% a faker too.The wood looks it was poorly crafted.

The ashi looks very fragile and would break if it was used for its real purpose.

My guess is Pakistan or India.
