Japanese Officer's tunic question

Did Japanese Officers ALWAYS wear the custom tunics, or could they have worn a simple summer tunic similar to the enlisted/NCO in places like the pacific?

If yes, does anyone have examples?

They did wear some of the various enlisted issue shirts in tropical areas, but as far as I am aware, enlisted issue tunics were never worn by officers.
