Let me sum this up: there is a net with "double button" existing, in the hands of a vet, so a genuine one. So we know they must exist.

BUT this very ONE is the ONLY one that is accepted as original? All others must be fake?

      Any other opinions?

The hole at the top is wrong for an original. That is Nakata shoten.

S.G. I can not personally confirm the existance of that "vet' net. I'm not a fan of vet stories. If there's a chance a net with double strand/loop bottom for drawstring was original & period BUT in my opinion I wouldn't have it in my collection. I'd rather have a text book pattern net that I won't lose sleep over & always wonder if it was real or an aged repro. just just me.

It is awfully clean workmanship for a Nakata. I don't know. At any rate the two pictured are both bad imo.

              Japanese helmet net

OK guys let's have your views. I know there has been some ongoing discussion about double-string-around-the-rim helmet nets. The consensus seems to be that most experienced members do not like them, or at best have doubts about them.

Attached is a net currently being offered on eBay. What are your thoughts? A Nakata or not a Nakata? I have no view either way, but would appreciate a brief reason why you think one way or the other.

Like said, that (green) one was a cheap shot, so its not so important thats its most likely a Nakata.

The other one on my helmet was found in a japanese breadbag, and this (and some other items) came from an australian vet, so I am very fine having that one.
Also, it was once green, too, but is very faded, but only until some rust-marks (caused by the helmet-rim), after those its unfaded.
