Not a Knee Mortar Case

Just an FYI. This is not a knee mortar carrying case:

This is a tripod case for the Japanese Type 93 battery commander's telescope. See Nakata, plate 862 for the leather version also sometimes misidentified as a knee mortar case.

At a glance the tripod case on the gunboards forum looks like it may be different from the tripod case at auction (both are Type 93 cases, however).
