Is this a training bayonet? It is kind of crude and the hooked quillon is thinner than on the standard Japanese type 30 bayonets. The only markings on it are an "O" and "77" impressed in the metal underneath the handle. The bayonet is about 20 inches long and somewhat dull. Could this be a "last ditch" bayonet? Were some bayonets unmarked by the arsenal? Could the "O" under the handle be the arsenal mark?
The scabbard is rubberized and the type usually found with the variation O bayonet which had a straight guard. I think the bayonet and scabbard are mismatched. Am I wrong?
Thanks,
Eddie
