Sword help me please

Hello,

I need help with this sword which was offered to me. To me it looks good, but then i am no
super expert like you guys. Officer Shin Gunto with mon and pre-WW2 blade?

The seller wants a fair bit of money for it and i am afraid of doing a mistake.
Here is some more info i received:

"Old fullered blade in standard shin-gunto fittings of very high quality. Silver mon
with crossed hawk feathers (emblem of the Tokugawa clan). Scabbard in very high-gloss
dark brown paint, fittings copper and perfectly fitted together. The blade is clearly pre-war,
signed Sadatoshi, but in poor repair. Oxidised and pitted as the photo shows. Regulation tassel.
This must have been an old family sword, mounted in shin-gunto fittings for active service.
The blade has clearly been sharpened down, but the mountings were made to fit it."

If it were me Id pass, just something about the blade shot, and older blades dont have small kanji on the tang that look stamped verses hand inscribed. This one just appears "off" to me.

Yep, it's an army arsenal made machine forged blade.
