    Opinions on Japanese Flag Signed

Hi gents, it's been a while I have been looking for a Japanese Flag and nothing better than getting one signed from WWII to match the hobbie, so here I have one on sight which seems good to my noobie eyes but of course need confirmation. Also anything on a place or date that tells something would be great! Thanks in advance for any help!

    Cheers,
    Fabian.

Did you get this flag from a Japanese dealer? The only problem I see is that the Kanji characters looked very similar, as though one personal wrote all the signatures. Since many people signed it, there should be multiple hand writing style. I dont like buying flags from Japanese dealers since they can write Japanese and who knows if they just wrote it themselves.

I personally get spooked easily, and I like stuff that has the "U.S. inspection" stamp indicating it was a field pick up.

Hi Maverick and thanks for the reply! It is indeed a Japanese dealer, I dont know Kanji but comparing some characters I see them some different, I just checked some other threads about flags and some are different but in others cant really tell the difference, I'm kind lost now.

gebris just sent me the auction feedback link for this seller. Something is wrong. Better stay away from this flag. I will show some suspicious photos in the next post.

I copied some flag photos from a Ebay feedback thread and I found two flags with matching handwritting. See the slogan on the top on the following flags. Done in the same hand.

Flags with writing in the meatball are rare in Japan, so finding some from the same source prompted me to save several photos and start comparing. The slogans in the above two may seem different to a western observer, but they have been done by the same hand.
I noticed that the auction was about to end, so I decided to wave the red flag just after finding this one pair.
Of course, the same hand would have signed multiple flags in real life, but as they are presented to different people both ending up in the hands of the same seller cannot be coincidence. There used to be safety in numbers, in the variety of handwritting, but it may be that a group of guys have formed a production line.

Thanks again for the help Nick, I found not only that the seller loads a flag almost every week but that there are another 3 sellers with different names that sell the same way and have exactly the same join date... all similar flags... but hey as a non Japanese I cant tell the difference among kanjis so they seems pretty good to me... now coming from someone that knows about writting it's a great help! Just let the auction go, will get a better source next time with more knoledge!

                      Thanks again!
                      Fabian.

I did not keep track of which photo came from where, but now I found a matching hand for the auction flag. Once again the give away point is the slogan. The writer is trying to vary the size of the components of the Kanji, but the angle with which he enters a stroke and his pattern of lifting the brush at the end of the stroke show these to be from the same writer.
Compare them side by side and you will see.

Here's the auction flag. The vertical slogan on the left is what you should be looking at. Pay attention in particular to the configuration of the second Kanji from the top, which shows his habit well.

I'm copying the message Fabian sent me that includes the feedback links. I'm too lazy to check which photo came from which link, but there's foul play going on as I proved above, so when you match the above photos to Ebay IDs you should black list those sellers.

Hi Nick, here is the link to the flag in e-Bay, I kept reading and found these Japanese good fakers and this one has been only selling flags one at a time since middle of the year... and found another 3 sellers that do the same and have the same join date on e-Bay. I'm suspicious

Indeed Nick, I got excited as usually we do when see something we like for our hobbie and not big money... but started looking (too bad I didnt have more time) and then found these four guys from Japan saying the same thing, same way, and pretty similar flags, but again I dont have eye for kanji, now I can clearly see what you meant Nick, so big thanks from my part, not only the money part but the feel of finding it was a fake after buying it is really aweful.

Btw, I pm'ed you to get a faster answer since the bidding was finishing.

                              Cheers,
