Quick translation needed on Japanese flag :-)

Hello forum...

I bought htis about two months ago from a local friend/collector.

Can anybody translate it for me? JUST KIDDING!!

I never had a Japanese flag with so much writing on it. It must have taken a month of more to paint all the Kenji.

I paid $150 for it.

Those big characters mean:
忠君=be loyal to the Japanese Emperor
憂国=be concerned about the future of country

The rest small characters are people's names. Maybe Japanes soldiers'.
