Japanese Gyroscope? Help ID?

Hello,
I got this and was told that it is a Japanese torpedo gyroscope. Can anybody help ID what exactly this is? It is built into a box and I feel if that is what this is then its a display or teaching model as it would be difficult to remove from the box. Let me know what you think?

yes, it is a Japanese torpedo gyro. i have owned several of them.

Does anyone know what torpedo this gyro goes to? Is this a training model? Would these get removed from the box and put into the torpedo?
