Thanks for posting Russ. This type cap is thought to be made in the Phillipines. Chinstrap is made of two different shades of cloth. Any help translating the interior tag is greatly appreciated.

Nice cap Jareth. Is the theory the IJN had a "depot" there manufacturing items or just something locally made? I like the color.

Here is a late IJN haversack that resembles the construction of this cap. It is smaller then the earlier ones but definitely Navy.

I've examined 3 such IJN field caps in the JE collection and they all are of similiar weave, material, coloration and with interior labels believed to be from the Phillipines. Additionally I have a cloth flight helmet and have seen its exact twin in the JE collection and they both are made up same of the material, color etc. when compared to the field caps

It is my understanding also that these items were made in a occupied Phillipines "cottage industry"

My new caps label is almost identical to the one in Dean's cloth flight cap. I also have a standard late navy field cap with bevo anchor insignia that's made up of three different shades of green fabric. I have another made in Phillipines field cap that is all same color but with metal side vents.Today I'll compare labels & post comparrisons.

Examined my other cap. Different (chinstrap matches) material, different insignia (puffy embroidered) & as mentioned nickel plated vents & rear ties. Label is identical to above Phillipine made caps.

neat cap jareth. can you get someone to post a clearer picture of the label? I'm trying to figure out the depot, but I can't read the kanji at all. I do know it is different from the flight cap. both are hard to read, but I think the first three kanji of the flight cap reads 頁三軍 or 百三軍, but neither makes any sense, so I must be misreading them.
