    Kamikaze painting

    Hey peeps,

I recently finished my first paining of a series i'm going to make about ww2.
If they reach a high enough standard i might consider putting them on e-stand but i'd like some opinions first because i normally dont paint around this theme which demands a more realistic style. My education leans more to the surrealistic/fantasy directions.
Plz forgive me if this isnt the right place in the forum to post this thread, feel free to more/remove if not correct.
    So here goes...

    Technique: airbrush/mixed media
    Acryll on 3d-canvas (60cm x 50cm x 4cm)

    All comments are welcome...
    Kind regards,
    Tom

Thank you for posting your painting. I find that your creative approach is refreshing. If I were a man of wealth I would purchase one of your paintings. Keep up the good work!

very nice and dramatic! was there a particular pilot you had in mind when composing the piece?

Thank you all for the positive comments so far, it surely motivates me to continue making more paintings about ww2.

I got my inspiration about this painting when watching a docu about kamikaze's, i did some research about the pilots and their planes and once i get a rough scetch the painting kind of develops itself... I never know what the final product will look like when i do custom works. When i make a painting that someone has ordered im mostly bound to more limits tho.

The price of one of these paintings is another matter tho...
My 'mentor' sells his works within a price-range of 1800-5000+ euro's, depending purely on the sizes. Now don't fear, this guy is a real eccentric artist who lives to paint, and only to paint. He has build up a reputation during the years and does expo's in new york etc. If you'd like to check him out: www.daviddegraef.be
My prices on the other hand are alot softer Simple reason for this is that i'm not famous at all (yet ) , also i would feel very much ashamed if i'd have to ask 1800euro's for a painting of this size, but then again i'm not an eccentric artist.
My prices mostly are ranged between 300-1500euro's depending on size and type of canvas. For example last year a did a bonnet of a sportscar and the customer paid me about 1100euro's (big and difficult surface) and last week i did a picture of a rothweiler on a 50x50 canvas which costed the customer 300euro's. Decide for yourself if this is expensive... the type of art and the price u want to pay for it varies from person to person, same with collecting militaria i guess.
But to put an amount on it, i'd say i would initialy ask around 450euro's for this painting. Hopefully one day it will be worth 10 times more (and that i'm still alive by this time hehe)

            Kind regards,
            Tom

Thx Jim for pointing me to this site
If i would have know about this one a bit earlier i wouldn't have to spend hours on google looking for some sharp decent picture's of kamikaze's, it will surely help me alot in the future to find nice referential material.

                Kind regards,
                Tom
