two Japanese Flags, Your opinions Please

These have been offered to me. They came from a WW2 US Navy Corpsman. His son said his father took them from dead Japanese during the war.
These both are 100 % cotton. One has small paper reinforcing in the corners. The other is badly stained. It looks like rust or scorch marks. The rising sun is printed on them. They both measure approx. 13 x 16 inches. I believe these are often referred to as bayonet flags. The owner thinks they are worth about $75.00 US each? Any information you have will be helpful.

Well, they could easily be worth 75 each if they come with some provenance. If you could get the name of the Corpsman and where the flags were obtained and perhaps some copies of photos or service records, great.
With nothing but the story, the rust stained one is worth perhaps half that, the other maybe.

hey conrad, been a while but glad to see your post. totally agree; flags are pretty run of the mill and with the damage, any value will come from any provanance the seller can provide.

The bottom one might bring that much, but the top one with the rust stains would be worth maybe half that.
