    Lighweight Japanese helmet

Gentlemen, a friend of mine asked me to inquire about this lightweight helmet which was found in an abandoned house. My assumption is this is some type of fiber Japanese army helmet. It seems to be in reasonable shape with the exception of some wear to the edges and a dirt dauber nest or two inside. Any thoughts as to exact purpose and value? Many thanks in advance.

question: if this is a movie prop, why go through the trouble of recreating (what I think is) the correct style of liner, yet in last ditch materials?

could this be a last ditch type helmet, even if for effect?

What about a parade helmet for an officer? The Germans certainely had a variety of light weight helmets for officers comfort for non combat uses but, still maintaining that dashing look of a fighting man.
