    Whistle

    Hello All,
Not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes. I guess they call this a boatswane whistle.I'm sure the spelling is wrong. Would this be Japanese? It is maked 900 ,silver, has a star with a "P" in the middle.
    Thanks

It dosnt look like the standard japanese whistle with anchor ,sakura and the waves.
I think its from China or near ,but not japanese origin.

Chinese export silver is extremely valuable. The hallmarks are likely local silversmiths. Take your time & research them. You might have a rare piece.

Thank you Jareth, and Walter for the comment..I got it out of a box of things from my dad, after his death in 1989,..he was in the navy in 1949..I remember seeing it as a child, but I never ask where he got it. The pictures do not do it justice,it is very detailed..

Chinese silversmiths are underated. they made some incredible objects that rivaled their european counterparts.
