    SNLF Flag

More tomfoolery from that distinguished faker cupman. I kind of wanted to not say anything but maybe this will keep a member from buying this one.

Not to pile on cupman but a few years ago he bought a Japanese rayed flag off of Ebay that was clearly stamped with English writing and was called a reproduction in the ad by the seller. Then weeks later he had removed the stamps/markings and called it a real one and put it up for sale. I could clearly see it was the same flag in both auctions by clicking on the buyer link in his feedback and comparing it to his selling auction. When this was pointed out to him he immediately began making all of his auctions "private". He also bought a bunch of authentic Japanese cloth cap stars from a dealer in Minnesota...wonder why he needed all those cap stars??

Do a search on his seller name here. He is one of our favorites. I agree on the cap stars TM. He has been a lot of laughs for some time now.

P.S. I will say every now and again he will have an ok item. They imo are few and far between. I have a friend who got a killer IJN map case from him.

I don't trust anything he has. He used to be a great source of original items. At some point he went over to the dark side when he saw how easy it was to "enhance" an item. His favorite techniques are to put togeather (caps/tunics/canteens all named to same person) groupings, add insignias such as aviation & kamikaze and my favorite is his magic anchor stamp which he inks up & uses on even original items! As a testament to the ignorance/gullibility of his loyal buyers & eBay's flawed feed back system this crook has perfect feed back!

I'm surprised he is still in business. We would compete against each other at the swap meets and flea markets in Japan prior to e-ban when you could still find tons of good stuff. He first caught my attention as being on the dark side when he started selling 'put together groupings' from 'estate sales' on e-ban. There are no 'estate' sales in Japan. I think his name derives from selling sake cups.

Mike, I met you at Eric Doody's booth at the MAX show years ago. You had some great offerings from one of your trips to Japan! Guess there arel a few Yanks going over there & they still manage to find stuff.

Hi Jareth, yeah, those were the good old days when you could get armfuls of cool stuff over there. I'm pretty sure that a lot of it has 'dried up'. There is still stuff to be had. Bob Chatt is still turning up great stuff and Reto usually has some good things too. Looking forward to seeing everybody at SOS.

"CARRIED VICTORIUSLY TO THE TOP OF MOUNT FUJI AND NOW INTO THE FRONT"..
                    heeheehee !
Where the hell did the "now into the front" come from ?! This flag is a souvenir flag they used to sell when you reached the peak of Mt.Fuji, regular tourist souvenir. The phony anchor is one of those rubber stamps Cupman had made and stamps onto anything that may look remotely navy, but this Mt.Fuji flag is too much of a stretch to be sure, hehehe.
Flag is worth $10 at the most.

Takehito it just dawned on me that we have talked about this flag. It is the one I asked you about when it was on e-bay from another seller. When you said tourist flag for climbing Mt. Fuji it reminded me. I guess cupman won it, sat on it for a minute, added a little, and is now selling it. He got it cheap. That flag went for around $30-$40. Now it is back with his trademark stamp. He is an idiot plain and simple.

Scott, unfortunately Cupman is not an idiot, a scheming faker liar SOB that deserves to go to collector hell, but not an idiot. The idiot is whoever bought the Mt.Fuji souvenir flag for $150.... poor guy.
