    IJN helmet question

I have a type 90 helmet that may or may not be naval. On the naval helmets I have seen the anchor has been painted on and the front of the liner is held in place with a button split pin. This helmet has an anchor spit pin and the anchor may be brass. Did Japanese naval helmets come with metal anchors? This is an anchor pin only and does not have the mum. Thanks for any help you can give me in answering this question .

The type of anchor insignia you describe sounds like a Siamese naval insignia. Very hard to say anything more without photo. All Japanese brass/steel navy helmet insignia had cherry blossom on insignia with anchor. Do a search on this board & you'll see quite a few.

Here is a correct helmet badge. This is a steel example but they also were made of brass. The pattern remained basically the same with either material.
