    WW2 Japanese Flag --Need help

    Greetings again everyone.

I wish to post this flag and get some reactions from it.

I bought it from a guy saying it was brought back from a US Navy SeaBee on Kwajalein. Well of course you always buy the item for what it is and not the story you cant make for certain.

Does anyone have any information on this kind of flag... Does it have a prayer on it,or a name,or best wishes. Im trying to learn here friends so hopefully you can inform me on the difrent types of flafgs and what kind this is. Thanks everyone

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this flag appears to be a fake "Tojo" flag. Red dye, placement of Kanji, fake characters, etc. Unfortunately these are appearing more and more in the market. Can you provide any information on the source of the flag? I for one would like to know who is making these. Here is a link which should give you further information. Know also that there are a lot of good links and photos on this forum concerning genuine flags for further study. Zach

      WW2 Japanese flag

Zach is right on this one. These flags have been offered for some time now. Over the last month or two there has actually been a let-up of them on the market. As Zach said, the characters appear to be the same as those Tojo examples we have discussed- the same placement on the flag, etc. If you had images that showed the entire flag, there would be other characteristics we could comment upon, i.e. the tie strings, verticle placement of the flag rather than horizontal, etc. Hopefully you did not pay too much for this flag. The seller should let you exchange it for a refund. In addition, take a look at the link Zach provided. You can examine various examples posted there and read the discussion. mikeb

Gentleman,Thanks a ton. This is a bigreason why I joined becaue there are a bunch of things im not awaire of.Its a shame this flag is a fake and I have noticed a largee amounr of japanes flags.

This flag is actually my dads that he bought about 2 months ago from Shiesty Ebay,of course it was one of those stories that it was a vet bringback who was a Navy SeaBee. Im going to see if its stil up.If I rember he got i for around $60-70,Now I have to tell him the bad news. Weve been colelcting items specificaly from Kwajelin,Guam,Leyte and saipan because of all my family members thats served on these island,,,,, I think it is so discouraging that people sell these fakes and commit to a boogus story. Im only 21 and havnt been collecting for to long, but I could see how if this happeneds to a new/young collector and he gets a fake it might make him turn away from getting to enjoy collecting. Oh and on top of it he sent an image of a navy sailor and said that was a picture of the soldier who brought.

Im so gratefull you guys could help me out!!
