Japanese Helmet with US Style Liner

Picked up a Japanese helmet shell this morning with a US style liner system held in by with split pins. Any ideas what this could be?

Quite a few countries post war used Japanese helmet shells fitted that way.

Thanks Jareth! I think its a prime candidate for restoration.

Better leave it as is. Most times the original liner attachments are ground off & new bale hooks are added.

If I can find a good photo of the original liner attachments, I think I can make reproductions. I can weld up the extra holes in the shell.

What kind of condition is it in? Even post-war used Japanese helmets have collectors value.

Greetings! I have noticed that some members of this org are very much against restoration. I have restored several Japanese helmets that were used by Thai or other military. IF you want to trade info send me a private message.

Yes, but there have been very nice and fairly rare post-war Japanese police helmets and SDF helmets that have been destroyed.

                  Blinky,

This one had trashed US style liner, and it has been painted tan post-war. The paint is coming off in large flakes, and shows no original paint. There is also a pressure crack about 2.5 inches in the rear top of the shell. I honestly do not think it has any collector value in the condition it is in.
