    Interesting sword purchase

Purchased from the grandson of the vet, an interesting 27 1/4" Showa era blade signed "Shoshinshi Fukumoto Kanemune" and mounted in battle type tachi style mounts. An effort was made to obliterate the showa stamp but it was done long ago as the patina matches, blade is cleaning up nicely as some idiot in the past handled it with thick grease on their hands. These are not often encountered.

interesting find! looks like double hangers, tsuba, and other funiture are in the court tachi type mounts.

would this be more of a presentation sword versus military?

            Japanese sword

I would think a wartime presentation dolled up with older fittings, got this from the grandaughter of the vet, had original peg so either expedient military presentation or civilian wartime production.
