Were Japanese helmets reissued in the field?

I recently bought this helmet from a member. Before I even received it, I posted a picture the seller had sent me with a name sewed on the chin strap asking for a translation. Nick was kind enough to tell me the name stitched to the strap is HONMA.
After I received the helmet, I asked for a translation of the characters inside, and Edokko told me the name inside is Yoshimoto. Thank you very much Nick and Edokko.
A question that just occured to me is, why would there be two separate names attached to this helmet? Is one name a first, the other a last, or could it have been re-issued? It's probably all speculation, but this is what makes collecting, buying and selling this stuff so interesting.
Does anyone here have any theories? Thanks.

I wouldn't call it a reissue more like a field implement. Lose one pick up another. I have a cool cap with havelock with two names
