    Japanese Helmet Net Help

Several years ago I purchased many items from the widow of a Marine veteran of WWII. Included was the typical "cigar box" of small, mostly worthless items but there was also the net that I've included an image of. I'm not specifically a collector of Japanese items but I am a helmet collector so I have one nice Japanese helmet in my collection and would like to marry it to the net but how in the world do you secure the net to the helmet? As you can see from the picture there is an extremely long thingamajing coming from the crown of the net. What is that for? Is it some sort of slack for adjustment? Is this even a helmet net? Any help would be appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Dave

It actually does not look like any helmet net I have seen. It may possibly be some kind of fishing net with that long string from the knot. Does it even fit on a helmet? It looks too small.

it might be a net for a glass bouy that attaches to fishing nets

You may both be right. It does fit the helmet though. With nothing to give any indication of size, the picture is deceptive.

        Thanks,

        Dave
