What can you guys tell me about this one? Anyone have one in their collection?

This has an incorrect type 90 liner shoved in & it's missing the "Y" shaped chinstraps. Shell & insignia are OK.

I asked this yesterday before the crash:

Could it be that the liner was a field replacement? Being an earlier helmet, might have needed a replacement to be servicable during the war, if it was used as such.

I was wondering if liners were commonly replaced in the field, and if this was an easy or difficult thing to do.

I doubt it. If it was it's a very poor fit & you'd always be left wondering if it was indeeed correct. It's a "place holder" till a complete example becomes availible.

Use the search function for the forum, there are some great old threads on these with photographs of helmets that will make you drool and possibly even wet yourself

Going back through the earlier threads on this forum is well worth the time, there has been a lot of outstanding material posted that many of you new guys have probably missed that will probably answer a lot of questions you have or haven't even though of, not to mention some amazing items from the collections of Jareth and Eric Doody just to mention a couple.
