Japanese flags from USMC vet

My dad picked these up from the estate of a Marine last week. Two flags (one with bullet(?) holes & blood stains) and a Senninbari (1000 stitch belt). This is not my (nor his) area at all and was hoping you guys could help me with a fair market price. Also, what is the flag with the anchor on it?

It's tough getting all of the details to accurately price an item via photos but your images are good. I would guess that the first flag could expect to sell in the $125.00-$150.00+/- range. The senninbari is a bit beat up but would probably sell in the $100.00-$150.00 range. There is some dispute on the actual function for the last flag you show. For a long time, rumors had these flags I.D.'d as tokko naval flags (belonging to the suicide squads operating fast boats.) Most folks now agree that they are cabinet member flags. These normally sell in the $100.00-$175.00 range depending on the story that the potential buyer wants to believe! Hope this helps. Mike

The last banner could perhaps be for a navy veterans association, just a guess though. My thoughts of that came from the wave mark in the background. This is called a "yamagata" and used quite frequently for vets association purposes. The army vet asstn banner has a five point star similarly superimposed over the yamagata. Also there is documentation that surplus rifles slated for the vets assctn are to be marked with the yamagata on the receiver to ID it's destinated use.

Mike B, this thought just came over me after looking at the banner that Doss sent you and me and marked with the Yamanashi pref village army vets group.

Japanese army had a series of wavy line, "yamagata" flags using different solid color (white, red, blue) backgrounds. I believe they were military brigade/headquarter designations.

Thanks for the additional information. I think you are correct. I have also heard that the veteran's groups were often times broken down into sub-branches and named, much in the manner that Jareth mentions. MikeB
