Rick, tropical officer's tunics are super rare! Here's one I finally found after 20 yrs http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200241919115

Now Jareth that’s a field staff officer’s tunic. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had the “shoulder hole” for the aiguillette. Seriously that’s a super nice uniform, but I would have thought that most lieutenants and company grade officers would have worn the half sleeve, “greenish” collar, button down shirt in combat? Rick were you asking in general or for combat use? Jareth your thoughts? Zach

Zach, I agree with you completely regarding half sleeve shirt worn in combat & perhaps with a pocket rank tab. When it comes to officer's tunics, which were private purchase & based on set patterns, it's hard to know for sure what was worn in tropical conditions. The tunic I recently bought surprisingly does not have a hole for an aiguillette. That's the first thing I looked for. It is made of a lighter guage, thinner material & has the tell tale tropical/warm weather button down side vents. It's crying out for a wide lapel, collared white shirt! My next search!

Jareth, yours is truly a nice tunic and I hope you find that shirt. I often wondered if a vintage, i.e., "French" style white shirt could be found in other sections on ebay, etc. I always liked the look, and the way the Japanese put the white collar over the outside of the tunic collar. Here's a company officer's combat rig for Rick, hope you enjoy. Zach
