      Steve,

Are there any other markings to be found, even very small ones? Thanks, Zach

        Scope

No other markings , I think a bracket went around the silver part leaving the painted ends exposed.

Certainly appears that way. I did look through the few references that I have depicting Japanese field guns, but the pictures are not good enough to show details of the scopes. I can tell you that Toko was one of the most prolific manufacturers of optics during WWII and continued after the war. Sorry, thats about all I can find. Zach

What sort of reticule does it have, maybe that could be a clue. I guess it depends on the characteristics of the scope itself, but you may be able to take a picture looking through the scope. I took a pic through my type97 sniper scope, just used a well lit area with a light colored wall. It took a couple trys but I got a good pic in the end.

Also a little late I know, but I am pretty sure that this went to an anti tank gun.

              Guns I can exclude:

              - Type 1 47mm
              - Type 94 37mm

If you could post a photo while looking through the optic so the reticle is visible I might be able to identify the gun it went on.
