Can anone ID this flag my father's holding?

This picture was taken on Okinawa I'm pretty sure. The only time I've ever seen this flag is in this picture of my dad holding it.

No, just a sign put up by a farmer saying "Warabi planted". Warbi is a fern-like plant that is made into pickles.

Thaks Nick-I'll bet my dad thought that was some high level officer's flag! If he was alive today he'd get a kick out of what it says!

Would that plant have grown on Okinawa?
