    Bayonet tag translation

Can someone please tell me what is written on this wooden tag - it came attached to the bayonet frog?

numbers 8 and 6. if that is a character in between, then it is "no", a letter of the japanese alphabet in katakana (vs hiragana). could be a sub unit marking.

Many thanks kaigunair. I guess its significance to the bayonet, if any, will never be known. Perhaps a unit number is a good guess.

Anyone else ever seen a tag with just numbers on it?

      Regards
      Russell

As it merely says "6 of 8", I would say it's an inventory tag and not unit numbers.

            Yes, 6 of 8 is written as if it's "8's 6"
