    some Attu souvenirs

Have had these for a number of years. Received them from the Wife of a PBY
crew member that was in the Aleutians during WWll .These are some of the items he had picked up on Attu.
Hopefully these will be of some interest.
I can only guess what these might be, so any help on identification would be great.

        ATTU finds

Are those lenses for a gasmask? I don't know what the printed material is though.

Speaking of ATTU, I just picked up a very interesting photo album from a sailor (USN) that was stationed on ATTU. In it were a number of pictures of the Japanese cemetary, a destroyed Japanese AA position, and numerous Japanese personal items including a piece of red painted aluminum from an unknown type of Japanese airplane. There was also a photo of a group of Naval avaiators that is quite famous and is a first generation picture. The picture must have belonged to one of the men in the photo. There was also a small ink drawing with a poem (which has been translated) that was really neat. Since I don't collect USN material, and a close friend does, I sold it to him.

It's nice to see some other items from Attu!

        Regards,

        Chuck

          Chuuk,

Can you post some of those old photos of Attu? I have a japanese soldiers diary from Attu currently being translated by Edokko. He should be able to translate this for you.

          Thanks, Eric

            Eric,

I did have the items translated but they are all with the new owner and I have no pictures to share as they are no longer mine.
