    Wrist compass?

I am still digging into my Japanese stuff that has been packed away for well over 20 years. The vet who gave me this said it was a wrist compass that he got from a deceased crashed pilot somewhere in the pacific in WW2. I am unsure why it wouldn't be destroyed, but I suppose it would be possible. Who would have had an item such as this? I probably put a lot of the wear on it myself. It was one of the things I used to wear during our "neighborhood wars" as a kid........since I have had this one since I was about 11 or 12 (I am 68 now).

    Thanks,
    Ron
