Japanese Bugle - The Real Deal?

Hi guys, I picked this up today, just because of the Japanese Kanji. Can anyone translate it for me? I paid $75.00 for it - a good deal? Finally, should I clean it?

    Cheers,

    Greg

It says "Yoshida Trade and Industry Specialised Youth School", the kanji to the side of that is the number 12 in older kanji. Hence, not military.

Around the cherry blossom are the characters Chu (Loyalty) and Yu(Bravery). Youth schools were established in 1935 and was abolished in 1945, and a great part of their curriculum was military drills to prepare them for the Army.

            Bugle...

Your bugle appears to be missing the actual mouth-piece and lacks the heavy wool wrap and tassels that hung from the small, round rings. The wrap prevented the bugle from slipping out of the hands of the player. I would not shine it up. Most folks like the patina that age gives the metal. Mike

Thanks guys. I was hoping it was at least military. I wont shine it up but will give it a gentle wash to clear out the bugs and cobwebs then flog it at the next gunshow.

              Cheers,

              Greg
