The leather knot/strap pictured does not belong on this sword. The NCO swords with the iron tsuba have an unbroken [no buckle] strap. Yours' belongs on the earlier swords with the brass tsuba. Take heart though, as the buckled types are pretty scarce and you could trade it for 2 or 3 straps of the correct type for your sword. Better idea would be to keep it and go buy one that you need.
