Hello, I have just bought this IJA flag. I collect german militaria and the japanese militaria is new for me. Have you any opinion about this flag? Can anyone tell me the translation of the inscription?

Hi Mike-
The slogan atop the flag says, "Ki Buun Chokyu." This has a couple of English translations including "I Pray Your Military Fortunes Are Long Lasting," "I Pray For Your Good Luck On The Battlefield," and others. The corner tab appears to be a nice, authentic leather one rather than a paper one meant to look like leather. There were many different kinds of corner tabs used on flags including thin, suede-like leather, thicker pig skin leather, and very thick shoe-like leather. Also available were foil tabs (usually silver or gold,) embroidered silk, and cotton. Oil cloth was also used as a corner tab and is usually seen either in a green, brown or orange-ish color. Your flag has a metal grommet which looks good to me. Most do not have metal grommets to support the tie string. Your tie string is present and that is a nice feature too. Perhaps others out there can read the characters on your flag but some of them may be either too stylized or archaic to translate. Maybe Nick, Edokko or someone else can give it a shot.......MikeB

Hoo boy ! this one is tough. The handwriting is extremely stylized, almost close to sosho-tai. Not many Japanese can even read these anymore.
From what I can make out, 1st column right to left "Tame, Nakajima Masahide (?) kun / To Mr.Masahide (?) Nakajima". 2nd column "Shuku shussei / Celebrating stationing to the front". 3rd column(from here on it gets very difficult and full of assumptions) "Osaka____Denki Sangyo (??)/ Osaka___Electronics (??)". 4th column "Dai___Riji / Director of____", and around here on I will give up ! Someone take the torch and/or correct me ?
