    Sword fitting?

As I said with the helmet, I really know nothing about Japanese things, but used to pick them up now and again. I assume this is some kind of sword fitting piece, and I assume it is Japanese, but what is it? Can you tell me anything about it, and the potential worth?

    Thanks,
    Ron

I may be wrong, but I believe that part is called the "Habaki" (the fitting just forward of the tsuba(handguard), on the blade.

        Ron-
It Appears That You Have Displayed Two Seperate Pieces As The Height Differe In The Upper Piece And Lower Piece. The Top Piece Is A Fuchi, The Bottom Metal Fitting On A Sword Handle Found Immediately Above The Tsuba Or Guard. The Second Piece Appears To Be A Kojiri, A Metal Fitting Mounted To The Bottom Of The Scabbard

          Bob,

No. They are all views, from different positions, of the same piece. I just did a composite of different size images. 1st one is, I suppose, the front; 2nd is the backside; 3rd is the seam on the side; and the 4th is just looking straight down at the edge. Sorry if they give an impression of being multiple pieces. It is just something I picked up out of a junk box at a fleamarket once upon a time.

I would go with what Franco and Bob have told you, Ron, as I'm most likely mistaken! Sorry about that!
