    Japanese Parachute ?

The guy I got this from said it is a WW2 Japanese parachute. The risers are not on it. The only markings that I can find are numbers on edge, pictured. There is small vent hole, top center also pictured. What do you think?

Next to impossible to know. Even if it is Japanese it has little value. Most collectors are looking for complete chutes in the packs as well as the harness.

I Doubt It Is Japanese. If It Was Japanese, The Number Would Be The Kanji "9", Not An Arabic "9."

I believe Japanese Army parachute silk were typically stamped with an encircled five pointed star and manufacturer's information while Japanese Navy parachute silk were typically stamped with an anchor and manufacturer's information.

Eric, I look the whole thing over and see if there are any other markings. Bob, I figured since they used arabic numbers for the serial numbers, why not on something else. Jareth, I thought that the stiching type or pattern may be a way to tell. For sure it is not U.S. As far as complete, yes of course a collector would like anything complete, but I would love to have the first chite I jumped with, cut shroud lines or not. To me I'd rather have one without shroud lines/risers than not have one at all.
