    What's this medal

This is in-bound to me in a group of medals (I only collect German) I purchased. These are the only photos. I would like to know if anyone has a clue what it might be & if it's at all rare. Hope you can help. THanx in advance, Rick C.

        Hello,
I think your badge is a Navy proficency pilots badge . Whats the back look like?

Rick, I'd say it may be quite desirable to the right collector.....Here's an enamel one along the same lines that sold on eBay.....Bodes

            Aviation Proficiency Badge

            Rick,

Your Navy badge is the Aviation Proficiency Badge 1st Class. It was indeed issued in a blue leather case. First Class recognizes the highest level of technical expertise (1st class presumed for officers and senior NCO's). The Japanese had proficiency awards for at least 10 different specialties. Zach

Bodes, WOW! (then again, Ebay buyers are nuts sometime.) Looks very similar. I wonder what the binoculars mean. Can't wait till it comes in so I can share photos of the reverse side. Hopefully I'll find a home for it as my little fuhrerbunker is bad enough - were I to start collecting Japanese stuff too my wife would use my luger on me. Thanx for the link. RC

Actually $3,000 was a very fair price for the one that sold on ebay. It is a 1st Class Observation Qualification badge, and is scarcer than the aviation badge. $2,500 - $2,800 would be a very fair price for the aviation badge that you have so if you got it for less than that you got a very good deal.

                  Paul, Wow!

Had no idea. Now I just need to find that collector of Japanese Naval aviation items!

Thank you for your guidance in this regard. If you know anyone...
