Hello everyone,
I have a vet aquired sword, and would like help with the tang translation. This is an officers sword in very nice condition. It has been stored away since the end of the war and the condition reflects it. It has most of its original gilting still intact, including the clasped hands sarute. The strange thing about this sword, is its lack of retention mechanism, It was made without a scabbard lock, or handle strap. It has never had a combat cover on it, and the Tsuba would not allow a strap to pass through it. I have never seen another sword like this, maybe you guys have? This is how it was taken by the veteran. I would like help with the tang translation. I tried flour to contrast and photograph, but there was not enough contrast in the metal to see anything. I have included a hand drawing of the tang signature as well. There is also a mark on top of the tang spine. Your help is appreciated. Thank you,
