    Rubberized Army Pith

    Just in: Army Rubberized Pith Helmet. Its in pretty good shape but the rubber coating is very stiff and has crazing. I know Jareth and some others have one -can you guys post some pics when you get a chance.

              Dean, exterior & insignia is identical to mine. I'll need to look at my interior as I don't recall if mine has the exposed weave or cloth covered. I will let you know.

                    I've seen that one, its much nicer than mine. I don't think you'll be able to get that one back

                      Heres a period photo of several different piths in use. The one on the right appears to be rubberized. The one in the middle looks to be wicker with no cloth covering but the coolest thing is the helmet with nets on the backpack and ground, maybe field made?

                            Great photo showing how these helmets often appeared in the field. I believe those helmets are just plain wet and neither rubberized nor plain wicker. I dont believe I have ever seen a picture in that one of these rubberized helmets (is it really rubber or some other type of coating?) could be discerned with certainty.

                              Dean, Do you know where that picture was taken? I'm guessing it's China and early (prior to 1941). I noticed the date is 43 in your helmet, what is the date in Jareths helmet? nice specimens! Reese
