    Would like to know

where the Museum is located, I spent the better half of my time in the Corps on the Rock at Camp Hansen and Camp Foster. Now that I'm retired id like to go back some day. It would be great to take it in.

Wow. Excellent. You can almost smell and feel the battle seeing those relics. Amazing!

Stephen C, my fathers museum is located on Camp Kinser in the HQ bldg. Since my father passed away last month, a very close friend of my dads is running the museum at the moment since I live in Hawaii its impossible for me
to continue the museum without his help. If you ever make back to Okinawa, let me know and I will get you in contact with him and he would be glad to take you on a Battlefield Sites tour. Still lots to be found on that little island

Sorry to hear of your Loss

My condolences to you and your family.
Do you ever run into any Swords? I think that would be a life long dream to run a place like that, I could get the ex wife to do all the translation as her family is from there. ...big pipe burning now...

All I can say is wow I did 4 tours on Oki and never came across anything like that. Of course being married most of the paycheck was sent home and I couldn't get around that Island as much as I would have liked. Anyway great pictures. Duane

You can see the serial number on that still. Thats like a time machine, coming upon a gun that is rested against something, and has been that way for 60 years.

When my dad was on Okinawa(air force) they were digging and some guy who was with them had hit an unexploded bomb and killed him .

They found alot of bullets and even a sword which was in good condition(no pitting, its a wonder it stayed in good condition with wrappings intact and most of the paint still on it, my dad said the NRA condition would be VG+), but the guy who was heading the construction said he had to turn it in(yeah right, he turned it in to his closet).

I hope you find the find of a life time, like Ushijimas hari kiri knife.

                        Aloha Josh,

We have dug Gen Ushijimas Cave and found numerous items i.e. sword parts, special made saki cups, watch, and dog tag with 32nd Army inscribed on it belonging to the member of his HQ Staff.....the story is that his aides removed all of their personal belongings to include medals and swords and buried them somewhere near the mouth of the cave entrance after they committed suicide. Still looking for the their stash If you have visited the Museum, you will see all the items dug up on Okinawa to include swords. David.
