Japanese Armoured/Cavalry helmet ??

Hi guys,

another one that I am not familiar with, belongs to a friend of mine, and he wants to know if this stands a chance of being a good original WW II period item, photos to follow...

The straps are a web material, the star is a yellow painted (masked) star...

Last shot, the very faint stampings on the liner, this was purchased from a UK dealer who said that it was supposed to be a Japanese tankers helmet, any ideas if yes or no.

Helmet....

I don't have a clue what this is but I would say it's not Japanese or at least (just in case) it's not like ANYTHING Japanese I have ever seen. Over the years there have been a few helmets such as this that have come from the UK and are reported to be Japanese after some careful alterations....many have turned out to be French. Sorry, but it's not a Japanese tankers helmet !
