Refinished helmet what is the value

What is the aproximate value of an original model 90, I believe helmet, that has original star, but a replacement liner and repainted? Thank You

    Peter,

I have seen repainted original Japanese Type 90 helmet shells with reproduction liners, reproduction chin straps, reproduction liner retaining pins, and reproduction Army star insignia priced at $150. If the subject helmet has a repainted original Army star insignia, then add $50 tops in my opinion.

    Hope this helps.

      Helmets....

I think Eric is right on the money (a little play on words Eric). $150.00 for an army helmet in that state is at it's limit. However, a navy helmet might carry more depending upon the insignia on the helmet. A good early brass anchor & cherry blossom would raise the price. A steel anchor would be a little less and the stencil anchor the least.

yeah you can get repainted original shells with repro liners and repro net off the shelf in Japan for 13000 yen, what ever that equates to in dollers.

On eBay last month I sold a repainted Army helmet for $203 and a repainted Navy helmet for $205. Each had an original shell but reproduction liners and chinstraps. I'm not sure about the badges.

These were honestly advertised as "restored" helmets with a complete description of each helmet and its components.

It sounds like I got a good price for each -- but they were still a financial loss to me, since I bought them back in the early 90's for quite a bit more money after being told that they were 100% original!

              Repaints.....

Ahhhhh Kenny, Kenny, Kenny........did you learn something about helmets from that experience ? If you did then you didn't lose anything. You payed for and received a very cheap lesson. One that will more than make up for the money you lost in years to come. Be happy....there are some who payed more and didn't learn a thing.
