A friend of mine asked for help concerning this japanese medal. He would like to know what is it, date of creation, period, award criteria, if the case is correct, etc...

The problem is: I simply no nothing about Japanese militaria!!!

Can anyone provide me information about it???

Japanese Medal

I'm not that great on the medals (and according to some not that great on anything) but I believe this is the 8th Class award of the Order of the Sacred Treasure and there is a lapel rosette in the box. It's a very low ranking medal issued to both civilians and military. Peterson's book indicates that it was issued for long and faithful service to school teachers, postmen, and policemen after 20 years of service. There are 8 classes with this being the lowest.
